Geelong Lawn Tennis Club

Andrew Gregory successfully defended his Mens Singles title in the 2009 Bendigo Bank Victorian Grass Court Championships held at the club from 26th - 31st December.  In a hard hitting final he defeated NZ Davis Cup representative Oliver Statham 3-6 6-3 6-3.  In the first year that the championships have been elevated to Platinum AMT status, organizers hailed the $10,000 event a great success with perfect weather throughout, and open entries up 20% on last years event.

In the Ladies Sungles, Junior Fed Cup player Victorija Rajivic was too strong for surprise finalist Azra Hadzic, winning 6-2 6-1.  Rajicic had earlier accounted for Bianca Tepper in the semi-final, and Hadzic had upset Olivia Rich.  Local players fared better in the doubles & graded singles event, with Matthew Hicks & Justin Robinson winning their fourth straight Mens Doubles title, whilst Carolyn McGann was runner-up in the Ladies Doubles.  Justin Robinson backed up with a Mens Graded Singles win over Andrej Mataruga, and Phillipa Tepper was runner-up in the Ladies Graded Singles.
