In their first season together, our Section 2 team in the Tennis Geelong Senior competition had a very successful season by reaching the final, and losing narrowly to a Grovedale team. The team started the season slowly with a number of mixed combinations being tried during the course of the season, but finished strongly in 2nd place on the ladder.
The team were full of confidence entering the grand final as they were the only team to defeat top team Grovedale during the season. The team started slowly in the final, but came home strongly before losing 6 sets to 3. Despite their loss, the team has bonded strongly and looks forward to next season. The team consisted of Mick Carlon, Nikki Cooke, Trevor Priddle, Melissa Mortimer, Alice Broadway, Lauren McAuley, Stef McLachlan & Toby Lawrence.
In Tennis Geelong Junior results, GLTC was successful in Section 5 Mixed, Section 10 Boys, Section 24 Boys and Section 28 Boys. Club teams were also runner-up in Section 3 Girls, Section 10 Boys and Section 25 Boys. Congratulations to all involved.
