Junior squash in the Geelong area received a recent boost when the club hosted the inaugaral December Junior Tournament on Sunday 13th December. Pictured are the runner-up in the A section Josh McMillan & the winner Rauri Regan.
Organizers were very pleased with the event, as it was over ten years since a junior tournament was last held in Geelong. Seventeen juniors, mainly from Geelong but also from Melbourne took part in the timed round robin event that was split into three sections, Beginner, A & B. Rauri was too strong for Josh, taking the A section 43 to 25. In the B section, club member Ryan Hamilton scraped home narrowly against Kirstie Wild. Andrew French had a narrow win over Evan Spoljaric 39 to 38 in the Beginners section. Thanks go to sponsors PRD Nationwide who donated a perpetual trophy, the Geelong Squash & Racquetball Association, and several individual contributors. Tournament Director Roger Regan reserved special thanks for the assitance of coaches Barry & Jessie Reid, Paul Mangan and Tamba Sumana. A great day was had by all.
