Simon Keeble has been appointed as the Club Coach at Geelong Lawn Tennis Club after an exhaustive process involving a high quality field of applicants from Australia and overseas.
Simon is a certified Tennis Australia qualified Club Professional Coach, with over 20 years coaching experience in Melbourne and overseas. His most recent appointment has been at the Royal Park Tennis Club in Parkville, one of Melbourne's largest community tennis clubs, and in 1995 he spent 12 months working at the New York Athletic Club. Simon is a former State Grade player, and is a winner of numerous Open singles & doubles titles. He has extensive experience at all coaching levels, from junior beginners to working with some of Victoria's elite junior players, as well as adult private and group lessons. He has recently been appointed as the 1st Boys Coach as Geelong College in the APS sport competition.
Club President Bob Spurling said "The club is very pleased to announce Simon's appointment to this important position. We truly believe that we have secured a first class coach who is a great fit for for the club with his extensive coaching experience at all levels of the game. We look forward to working closely with Simon as he further develops the tennis coaching programs at the club."
Simon has recently relocated from Melbourne to Torquay, where he lives with his wife Megan (a former US College tennis scholarship holder) and two children. Even though his appointment does not officially commence until 1st January 2010, he is keen to spend some time at the club over the next few months getting to know people and organizing the structure of the program. He is keen to maintain continuity by retaining the involvement of coaches currently working in the existing program.
