The club was fortunate recently to have world champion cyclist Cadel Evans speak at a fundraising luncheon at the Lord Of The Isles Tavern. Cadel had the small group capativated with his insights into the world of professional road racing, whilst former Wimbledon doubles champion & Channel 7 commentator Alan Stone provided an analysis of the nations tennis fortunes, as well as a behind the scenes look at the grand slam events.
Ian Cover compered the event in his inimitable style, engaging both Cadel and Alan in an amusing question-answer segment. Several items were auctioned at the lunch, including a signed rainbow UCI cycling jersey. Thanks to the generosity of Cadel and the lunch attendees, over $14,000 was raised to assist the club with future plans for club development. The club is very appreciative to Cadel Evans manager Jason Bakker from Signature Sporting Events, and the generosity of several club sponsors and local businesses who supported the event.
