Club President Bob Spurling admits that when he set the ambitious target in 2006 of 1000 members by 2012, he thought he might have set the bar a little too high... So at the Annual General Meeting on Friday 19th August, he was very pleased to recognize the club's 1000th member Karen Best with a special presentation. Karen was the very happy recipient of a Wilson tennis racquet & a special gift from Bon Bon Bouquets (www.bonbonbouquets.com.au)
In recent years Karen has officiated at the club during junior tournaments, but is looking forward to getting out on the clubs grass courts this summer with the various social groups at the club, and with her husband Graeme, who has also joined as a member.
In other news from the AMG, Peter Jeremiah (Vice President & Social Director) and Karen Parry (Marketing) retired from committee positions. New committee members James Moran & Cathey Holschier were elected, and Beris Marshall also returned to the committee after a short absence. Rod Leigh was awarded Life Membership of the club after lengthy service at the club including time on the committee, and also as curator and grounds volunteer. Many of the improvements around the club exist as a result of Rod's ingenuity and practical know-how.
